Centre for Distance Education Successfully Obtains ISO 9001:2008 Certification
Release date: July 20, 2009
(Sydney, Nova Scotia) July 20, 2009 – The Centre for Distance Education, an online private career college, announced today that their quality management system has been certified by NSF to the ISO 9001:2008 standard. This certification further cements CD-ED’s credibility as a premier provider of online education programs via its dedication to quality-of-service standards.
“We’ve always been proud of the quality of our student services,” said Lori MacMullin, Owner/Principal at CD-ED. “Going through the ISO process allowed us to identify areas for improvement, while also validating the strength of the system as a whole. It’s terrific to have a formal endorsement of the excellent standards that we have upheld for over a decade.”
Created by the International Organization for Standardization, ISO 9001:2000 is an international quality standard that recognizes a company's capability to reliably deliver high-quality products and services. It is based on eight quality management principles: customer focus, process approach, system approach to management, continual improvement, fact-based decision-making, leadership, involvement of people, and mutually beneficial supplier relationships. These principles have been applied to the Centre’s program development, the evaluative process of student assignments and other student services, the relationships with suppliers for student materials, the documentation process, and of course the internal organization of the company itself.
CD-ED has long been committed to providing quality programs relevant to today’s changing technology-rich workplace, to the ability to be adaptable, self disciplined & willing to embrace continued learning in the workplace, and to learning opportunities which develop student’s unique abilities and enhance personal growth.
This commitment has led CD-ED to achieve standards and initiatives toward the constant development of the company. The quality management system certification ensures consistency and continual improvement of working practices, which in turn will help CD-ED to continue to provide optimal services for its students.
