SEED Conference Sketchnotes

071031sketchnotes

Mike Rohde, a designer, writer and artist from Wisconsin, attended the SEED conference this week, and took/drew these really amazing Moleskine sketchnotes. Not only are they an example of design-on-the-fly, but they also contain shiny nuggets of wisdom from some of the web’s best designers and developers.

design*sponge Redesign

071001designsponge

One of my very favourite daily reads, design*sponge has gotten a redesign, and it’s gorgeous. The owner worked with Also Online to create the look, and it’s a huge success. As always, I could do without the huge amount of animation in the Advertisements section, but that’s the internet, I suppose.

You can now view all of the thousands of posts by category, mini trends, or by specially-picked guides for different items and even cities.

Urban Dirty: Free Textures

070925urbandirty

Fabulous grungey photos in small, medium and large sizes. You can use them to make photoshop brushes, or to grunge up or texture your websites, illustrations and designs. Or they can be used as the basis for your own 3D textures (so long as you make them tileable!).

Web Designer Wall

Brand-new (so low in content so far), but utterly gorgeous new site by ridiculously talented artist and designer Nick La. He’ll be following design trends, CSS, Photoshop tutorials, technology, etc. I think it’ll be worth keeping an eye on.

Sketching for the Web

blog images

“Ballpoints and fine tips just don’t fill the page like a Sharpie does. Fine tips invite you to draw while Sharpies invite you to just to get your concepts out into big bold shapes and lines.”
