‘Illustration and Lettering by Sarah J Coleman. Fabulous front page, although the navigation gets a bit wonky deeper in.’
- Interested to read this. I designed and built the site myself without having had any web training at all, but I’m passing the gauntlet to someone who does this for a living (since I no longer have time to do it - too much drawing!)
We’re starting to work out how to rebuild the site. It will look and function the same but will be streamlined and smaller/lighter.
Therefore: can you expand on the wonkiness? All feedback will help my web tech and I with v.2.0.
Thanks.
Hey Sarah,
What I meant by “wonky” is that when I start to click on things, they open in new windows and that behaviour should be reserved for opening documents off-site (ie, links to another site are legitimately opened in a new window). But when I am in a single site, I expect it all to stay in the one window (thumbnails are a tentative exception). The navigation seems to be different on nearly every page, as well. I can still tell it’s all the same site but it’s a little confusing as to where I’ve been and where I’m going. As it’s an artist’s page, that’s somewhat forgiveable - an adventure is a legitimate theme for a website - but it doesn’t seem intentional here, and you’ve confirmed that.
You did an amazing job on your own without any training! It’s really beautiful. I love your work
Good luck with the redesign!
